Privacy Policy

This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and your choices. We collect only what we need to match you well and run your outings. We never sell your personal information.

1. Information we collect

Information you give us: your name, mobile phone number, email address, date of birth/age, neighborhood, pronouns, optional Instagram handle, and your survey answers about your personality and preferences.

Payment information: when you save a card, it is collected and stored by our payment processor, Stripe. We do not receive or store your full card number — only limited details like the card brand, last four digits, and a token used to charge you when matched.

Information collected automatically: basic log and device data (such as IP address and browser type) and local storage / cookies used to keep your session and resume your survey.

2. How we use your information

To match you into a compatible group and plan your outings.
To verify your phone number and prevent duplicate signups.
To process payments and send receipts (via Stripe).
To communicate with you about your match, group, outings, and account.
To keep members safe and enforce our Terms.
To understand and improve our matching and service.

3. AI processing

We use artificial intelligence (Google Vertex AI / Gemini) to analyze your survey responses, generate short summaries, and surface compatible groups. A human on our team reviews and finalizes every match. Your responses are processed under our cloud provider's terms and are not used to train publicly available AI models.

4. How we share information

We share information only as needed to run LBF:

We may also disclose information if required by law, to protect the safety of members, or in connection with a business transfer. We do not sell your personal information or share it with third parties for their own marketing.

5. Data retention

We keep your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the service and meet legal obligations. You can request deletion at any time (see below); some records (such as payment records) may be retained as required by law.

6. Your choices and rights

Access / correct / delete: email hello@lbf.social and we'll help.
Marketing opt-out: you can unsubscribe from non-essential emails at any time; you'll still receive essential transactional messages (like payment and match notifications) while you have an active signup.
Texts: where SMS is enabled, reply STOP to opt out.

7. Security

We use reputable providers (Google Cloud, Stripe) and reasonable safeguards to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we work to protect your data and limit access to it.

8. Children

LBF is for adults 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.

9. Third-party links and venues

Our service references third-party platforms (such as Instagram) and venues. Their privacy practices are their own; we encourage you to review them.

10. Changes

We may update this policy. Material changes will be reflected by the “Last updated” date above.
